Outspaces steps in to support the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) initiative to restore the Langemyr hut – their newest basecamp for outdoor youth activities.
The team at Outspaces believes that being a sustainability-focused business means taking responsibility for the landscapes and communities where we work. That’s why we actively seek out collaborations with local NGOs and community groups, supporting their projects in ways that go beyond the transactional. Sometimes financially, and other times through hands-on effort.
When we learned that the local chapter of DNT was restoring a hut to connect local youth with nature, we didn’t hesitate to sign on.
Hands-on help at Langemyr
The project is being led by a dedicated volunteer group that’s already contributed over 130 hours of work.
Early restoration efforts include structural improvements to the outhouse, a new floor, stairs, and a storage loft. Indoors, electricity was removed and a new kitchen bench installed. A drier trail path was cleared, new trail signs raised, and a large amount of materials carried in from the nearby To gård.
The site is set to become a vital base for DNT Nesodden Turlag’s nature activities, including trips organized by its children’s group, Barnas Turlag. It will also serve as a destination for schools, kindergartens, and other groups, with an overnight option in a future timber-built lean-to.
Outspaces employees will be invited to participate in this effort at least once a month – as part of their regular paid hours – contributing their time, tools, and enthusiasm.
